Crowley Clan Council Meets in Bandon

Thomas Crowley of Ohio and Arizona traveled to Ireland this fall and attended a meeting of the Crowley Clan Council at Taoiseach Jerry Crowley's pub in Crossmahon near Bandon. Tom reports that the meeting focused on preliminary plans for the 2013 Crowley Clan Gathering in Kinsale.

At this time the schedule calls for meeting at the Trident Hotel on the waterfront in Kinsale on the evening of Friday September 13 for a wine and cheese party. Saturday morning will begin with a brief business meeting followed by a talk on genealogy.

The Council would like to put a focus on genealogy and on helping visitors to Ireland make the most of their time. They are planning on having a speaker who is an expert on the topic speak and answer questions.

Activities for the afternoon are still being discussed. Our traditional Crowley Clan Banquet will be on Saturday evening preceded by a cocktail hour and cash bar. The cost for the weekend had not yet set. Three years ago the cost was €150, and the council would like to stay close to that price.

Sunday will begin with Mass at the Crowley Castle in Ahakeera. There will be a road bowling competition, open to all, in the afternoon, and an evening barbeque at Crowley's Pub in Crossmahon.
