From Marian's Desk
If you have access to the worldwide web, I hope you have checked out our clan website at www.crowleyclan.com. And, if you’ve checked it recently, you have no doubt noticed that our clan newsletter is now online! We owe a huge thank-you to our talented webmaster, Jim Ritzert. Since we began publishing the newsletter in 1996, I’ve wanted to put it online, but that was far beyond my limited computer skills. Jim has made it all possible.
The entire website is a credit to Jim and to our clan. It is very well done. And now if you click on "newsletter" and then on "check it out" you will find our March Crowley Clan Newsletter. Amazing! And in a few weeks this July Crowley Clan Newsletter will also be posted on the site.
This July newsletter is full of interesting information. We are continuing to run the list of Crowley information from Skibbereen contributed by Col. Myles O’Crowley of California. And William Crowley of Florida sent a helpful article on using the Internet to do family history research. Charles Crowley of Massachusetts sent a clipping from the Cork Examiner from sometime in the 1970’s about the first modern gathering of our clan. This inspired the article on the front page researched and written by Thomas Crowley of Ohio.
Readers from England, Canada, the Republic of Ireland, and the USA have sent in news, family information, and research questions. We have more information about the ongoing plans for our next gathering of the clan in Bantry in 2004. And there is additional news from our clan committee in Ireland.
We are always looking for articles to include in the newsletter. And they need not be long or scholarly. Do you have interesting family stories? Have you done family research? Has your branch of the clan had a family reunion? Have there been births, marriages, deaths that have occurred recently and you would like to tell us about? We are all really just one big family, and readers would like to know more about their "cousins".
A year from now many of us will be making last minute preparations for a trip to Ireland and the Crowley clan gathering. September 2004 will be here before we know it. Hope you are planning to join us in Bantry.
Slan, Marian
