Crowley Clan News from Around the World
Kathleen Kelly Mahon, MD, USA: I hope to find much more information about Mary Crowley Lynch who was baptized July 19, 1836 in Bantry. She married Michael Lynch about 1855 in Watkin Glen, NY. About 1856 they traveled by wagon schooner with a Fitzgerald family to La Crosse, WS where they lived the remainder of their lives. Children include John Andrew, Mary Ellen, Johanna, Dennis, Michael J., Honora, Kate, and Patrick. I would appreciate any suggestions. My address is 12624 Saint James Rd., Rockville, MD 20850.
Tom Crowley, Pontypool, WALES: The preparations for 2004 are now well in hand. Good work by Tom (Ohio) and all on the committee. On reading the treasurer's report I noted the AIB account shows the magnificent amount of E700 (Euros) from Michael Patrick's book. This is very generous, and I feel sure every Crowley would like to thank Michael for this and for the many hours of research that he put into creating the format to give a clear and distinct picture of the Crowley genealogy.
Sue Crowley, Yuma, AZ, USA: Are you going to Ireland? My daughter Sunny and I are planning our trip over there. We hope to meet up with you. I'm sending a check for Sunny and my son Calvin for the newsletter. I don't know if they have paid it or not. If they did, just keep the balance for your work or for the castle ruins project.
Dolores Crowley, County Cork, REPUBLIC OF IRELAND: Looking forward to meeting you all in Bantry.
John Crowley, GA, USA: My email issues have finally been resolved. I would like to give you my updated contact information for the newsletter. My address is 2506 Elton Street, Albany, GA 31707-1737. My home phone is 229-889-0363. My work phone is 229-432-9141 ext 257. And my email is jcrowley@jacrowley.net. (John is the USA country rep for the Crowley Clan.)
Peach Van Groningen, Ontario, CANADA: My daughter, January, and my granddaughter, Emma, will be home from Ireland the 7th of May till the 20th. Son-in-law, Colum, isn't able to come at that time. Daughter, Joanne, and Mike (he's the new boyfriend and yes I do like him) will be home May 8th to 18th. This will be nice for Mike because his family lives in Waterford.
Next week I'm going on the road with Bill. I don't know what he's done to deserve such punishment, but I'm going anyway. Mom is okay. Josh and Chloe are registered for school in the fall. Aidan and Owen are growing much too fast for my liking. Quinn just seems to get taller and taller every time I see him. The rest of us are all okay.
Betty Halberg, (halberg@olypen.com): Thank you, Marian, for all the work on the newsletter. Thank you for correcting my name. I haven't heard from anyone anyway.
Tom Crowley, OH, USA: In my last report on the fencing in of the castle ruins, I neglected to mention a very important point. The lumber used to protect the castle from damage from cattle, etc. was provided by Seamus Crowley of Mallow, County Cork. Seamus was able to get especially treated timber at no cost to the Crowley Clan, which will help protect this important site. He gave an excellent presentation on the history of the Crowley Castle at one of the earlier gatherings and remains very active in the preservation efforts. A belated thanks to Seamus!
It is my sad duty to report the recent passing of Christy Crowley of Skibbereen, County Cork. Christy was instrumental in renewing the Crowley Clan Gatherings years ago. He was Taoiseach of the Clan in the mid 1980's. An Runai, Johnny Crowley of Bandon, represented the Crowley Clan at Christy's funeral. Our sympathies go out to Christy's family.
Jack Crowley, WA, USA: Greetings! My brother, Tom, and I look forward to seeing you and the gang this fall in Bantry.
